A ‘food forest’ is an ecosystem; a system of plants, bacteria and fungi working together to produce a diversity of food - vegetables, vines, fruit trees and berries. Based on woodland systems they are low maintenance, sustainable, plant-based food production systems growing on small sites.
This food forest is established on permaculture principles. All of the planting is in aboreal mulch and onsite ‘hot compost’. All of the planting is in circles, calling to mind Yeats’ notion of gyres and cyclical nature of time, and change.
